Save recipes from YouTube videos and Shorts

Cooking channels often put the full recipe in the video description, and Shorts move too fast to follow. Paste a YouTube or Shorts link into MagicMeals and you get a written recipe with the video right above it, so you can read the steps and rewatch the tricky part.

How it works

  1. 1Copy the video link. Tap Share under any YouTube video or Short and copy the link.
  2. 2Import it. Paste the link into MagicMeals. It reads the title and description of the video.
  3. 3Cook from it. Scale servings, check off ingredients and follow numbered steps with the video embedded on the page.

Built for recipe videos

MagicMeals reads the video's description through the YouTube Data API when it's configured, or the public video page otherwise. Recipes in the description become ingredients and directions; the channel is credited as the source.

  • Works with regular videos, Shorts and youtu.be links
  • Vertical Shorts play in a phone-sized player
  • The channel is credited and linked on every recipe

A free way to publish a family recipe

Want to share Grandma's recipe? Film it, upload it to YouTube, and type the ingredients and steps in the description. Anyone with MagicMeals can import it in one tap, and it can live in your public family cookbook.

Questions

Can I save a recipe from a YouTube Short?

Yes. Paste the Shorts link into MagicMeals. If the recipe is in the description, the ingredients and steps are extracted and the Short is embedded on the recipe.

What if the recipe is only spoken in the video?

MagicMeals reads the written title and description, not the audio. If the steps are only spoken, type or paste them in and the video still stays attached to the recipe.
