Use MagicMeals from ChatGPT, Claude and other AI apps
Connect ChatGPT, Claude and other AI apps to MagicMeals to search your cookbook, save recipes from links, add to your shopping list and log meals.
In short
- ✦Add MagicMeals to your AI app as a connector with the address magicmeals.app/api/mcp, then sign in to MagicMeals and tap Allow.
- ✦Then ask it things like "what can I make with chicken from my cookbook?", "save this recipe" with a link, "add the tacos to my shopping list" or "log my lunch".
- ✦A connected app can read your recipes, list and diary and add to them. It can't delete anything or make a recipe public, and your plan's limits still apply.
- ✦See or disconnect connected apps any time under Account.
Connect an AI app
- 1Add MagicMeals as a connector. In your AI app, find its connectors (in Claude: Settings, then Connectors; in ChatGPT: Settings, then Apps or Connectors; names change now and then). Add a custom connector, name it MagicMeals and paste magicmeals.app/api/mcp as the address. The same address works in Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code and other apps that support MCP.
- 2Sign in and allow it. The app opens MagicMeals. Log in (or create a free account), check the app name and where it will send you back, and tap Allow.
- 3Ask away. Back in the AI app, ask about your recipes, paste a recipe link to save, or tell it what you ate. Most apps ask you to OK each change before it happens.
What you can ask
- Find recipes: "high protein desserts in my cookbook", "what's quick for dinner tonight?"
- Save recipes: paste an Instagram, YouTube, TikTok or website link and say "save this to MagicMeals", or dictate a family recipe.
- Shop: "add the chili to my shopping list for 8 people", "what's left on my list?", "add milk and eggs".
- Track: "log 2 servings of the chili for dinner", "how many calories have I had today?", "my average protein this week".
What a connected app can and can't do
It acts as you, so it sees your own recipes, shopping list and diary, plus anyone's public recipes. It can save recipes (always private), add to and check off your shopping list, and log food.
It can't delete recipes or diary entries, make a recipe public, change your account or see your password or payment details. Do those in MagicMeals.
Your plan's limits apply. On the free plan your cookbook holds 25 recipes and the diary covers today and earlier. Saving from a link through an AI app doesn't use your AI link lookups, because your AI app reads the recipe itself.
Tip: Only tap Allow for an app you started connecting yourself. If a page asks you to allow an app you don't recognize, tap Cancel.
No account? Search public recipes
Anyone can add magicmeals.app/api/mcp/public as a connector to search public recipes and open family cookbooks, with no sign-in.
