Share your family cookbook with one link
Make a public family cookbook in MagicMeals: choose a cookbook name, mark recipes public, share one link, and use YouTube videos to save family recipes.
In short
- ✦Choose a Public cookbook name in Account, like smith-family.
- ✦Tick Show in my public cookbook on each recipe you want to share. Everything else stays private.
- ✦Share magicmeals.app/c/your-name. Anyone can open it and the recipes, no account needed.
- ✦For a video recipe, upload it to YouTube (unlisted is fine) with the recipe in the description, then import the link.
Set up your family cookbook
- 1Pick a cookbook name. Tap Account, fill in Public cookbook name (3 to 30 lowercase letters, numbers, - or _) and tap Save.
- 2Make recipes public. Open each recipe, tap Edit, tick Show in my public cookbook, and tap Save recipe.
- 3Share the link. Your link appears under the name in Account, like magicmeals.app/c/smith-family. Send it to family.
Save a recipe on video, the easy way
Some recipes are easier to show than write. Film it on your phone and upload it to YouTube. In the description, type the ingredients (one per line) and the steps. Then paste the YouTube link into Add. MagicMeals turns the description into a recipe and keeps the video playing above it.
Tip: Credit the cook. Put their name in Creator, like Grandma Rose, so the recipe says Recipe by Grandma Rose.
Who can see what
- Private (the default): only you, when you're signed in.
- Public: anyone with the recipe link, and it's listed on your cookbook page.
- Each recipe page says at the bottom whether it's public or private.
- Your diary, shopping list and account details are always private.
Print or keep a copy
Download the cookbook as Markdown from Account to print it, paste it into a document for a family reunion, or keep a copy that doesn't depend on any app.
