Get started with MagicMeals in five minutes
Set up MagicMeals in five minutes: create your account, start the free trial, save your first recipe from a link and learn the five tabs.
In short
- ✦Create an account with your email and a password, then start the 7-day free trial ($5 a month after, cancel anytime).
- ✦Save your first recipe by pasting a link from Instagram, YouTube, TikTok or any recipe site on the Add tab.
- ✦Everything lives in five tabs at the bottom of the screen: Recipes, Add, Ask, List and Journal. Your settings are under Account at the top.
- ✦Add MagicMeals to your phone's home screen so it opens like a regular app.
Your first five minutes
- 1Create your account. On magicmeals.app tap Start free trial. Enter your email and a password of at least 6 characters, then tap Sign up. If we ask you to confirm your email, open the link in the message we send and log in.
- 2Start your free trial. Tap Start free trial on the plan screen. Stripe asks for a card, but you aren't charged until the 7-day trial ends, and you can cancel before then from Account.
- 3Save your first recipe. Copy a recipe link from Instagram, YouTube, TikTok or a recipe website. In MagicMeals tap Add, paste the link and tap Get recipe. Check the draft and tap Save recipe.
- 4Cook or log it. Open the recipe to scale servings and check off ingredients, tap Cook this with the voice assistant to be walked through it, or use Add to diary to log it.
- 5Put it on your home screen. In Safari tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. In Chrome on Android tap the ⋮ menu, then Add to Home screen or Install app.
The five tabs
Once you're signed in, a bar at the bottom of every screen takes you anywhere in one tap.
- Recipes: your cookbook. Search by name, tag or ingredient and filter by tag.
- Add: paste a link or recipe text and AI writes the recipe card for you.
- Ask: chat or talk with an assistant that only uses recipes in your cookbook and cooks along with you step by step.
- List: your shopping list, built from your planned meals or any recipe, with an in-store checklist.
- Journal: your food diary. Plan meals, mark them eaten and watch calories and macros against your daily goal.
Tip: Account in the top corner holds your name, public cookbook name, daily calorie goal, subscription and cookbook download.
What makes MagicMeals different
Most recipe apps are either a recipe box or a calorie counter. MagicMeals is both, and it starts from the links you already save. Every recipe keeps credit to the person who made it, a link back to the original, and the video when there is one. Nutrition is worked out from USDA data so logging a homemade meal takes one tap.
A good first week
You'll get the most out of the trial by trying each part once:
- Day 1: save five recipes you've been meaning to cook.
- Day 2: plan tomorrow's meals in the Journal.
- Day 3: build a shopping list from your plan and try Shop in store.
- Day 4: cook something hands-free with the voice assistant.
- Day 5: set a public cookbook name and share a family recipe.
